Thanks, there's some good information there. You are right in that one
of my main concerns about Moodle is that it's vanilla-looking, we do
need a certain amount of polish / production value for this client.
Searching for SCROM quiz seems to be bringing up better results. I think
part of my problem was the words I was using in my searches, it was
bringing up a whole lot of academic fluff :)
Thanks,
Harvey.

I am a user/administrator (and sometimes developer) of Moodle, and as
a Learning managment system its pretty good. It got a pretty good
quiz system, but is more functional rather then pretty. It doesn't
have all the whizz bang flash quizes like the one on the AA site but
it can use SCORM and IMS packages. These are standardised components
which should be able to plug into any complient LMS. If you do a
search for "SCROM Quiz", I'm sure you'll find a package that will do
the Flash quizes. I've seen "hot potato" quizes within Moodle courses
which are flash based (but more geared towards children).
Hope thats of some use to you.

Actually, I've also used http://www.lucagalli.net/en/ years ago. It's
not PHP based (from memory it uses a windows app to create the
quizzes, then Perl scripts on the server side), but it did a pretty
good job from the end-user's perspective.

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for a PHP/MySQL + Flash or Javascript package or
framework for delivering online learning assessments / tests. I
was wondering if anyone had any experiences or recommendations.
The type of thing we are looking for is similar to the Road Code
test
http://www.aa.co.nz/motoring/licensing-training/road-code-quiz/
but with more depth - different question types, including
audio/video questions (eg listen to this recording then answer
the question). We might be putting together 30+ learning modules
and there would be a certain amount of backend functionality
needed, such as reminders if you haven't completed a module by a
set date and recording which modules you have completed etc.
I have looked at Moodle in the past and wasn't that impressed.
But if I'm wrong, I'd love to see an example of a Moodle
assessment that behaves similarly to the Road Code link above.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Harvey.
