Hi Rob,
I just find it handy to save directly from Photoshop into the images
folder of the theme I'm working on. Or if the client emails me some
replacement PDFs or whatever - save direct to the htdocs folder and
done. I realise there are tools that can map a virtual drive to achieve
the same purpose, I have had mixed success with those.
The other reason is speed. Saving files locally is always faster than a
remote server, even if it's only a small difference. I find developing
locally is faster at the initial stages of the project anyway.
