I didn't see this mentioned. Sorry if I missed it, but also consider
Lance's discovery [1], the need to tune the timeout settings. I ran into
this as well, when I setup Solr offboard and kicked off load tests, likely
acceptable in order to gain scaleability, at the expense of a little
network latency.
