OAE uses autocomplete entry fields for selecting an addressee, selecting a category, top-navigation-bar search, and so on, and aside from some server-side bugs the UX is pretty much what I'd expect. The one eccentricity is that client-side code tries to respond with a "return everything" search if the user types the character "*".
I haven't seen this behavior elsewhere, and the implementation is buggy anyway. [1] Is this special treatment of "*" really a UX requirement, or did it just slip in?
