At revision 1453897 I took the liberty to apply the patch for 1) since
* it has a more uniform way of handling nodes across transient moves,
* it is backwards compatible with JR2 re. tracking of nodes across transient
moves,
* it is backwards compatible with JR2 re. the time when an identifier is
assigned to a referenceable node.
We can still revisit this decision later on should it become necessary.
