I think this would be a very useful feature.
It'd be good to include that in the query explain too, but maybe it also makes 
sense to provide it as a 'column' to be returned as in Chetan's example as a 
user knowing a certain query will be executed by e.g. Lucene would not care 
about all the cost / plan information (not sure if it makes a difference from a 
perf point of view).
