I do not think there is not consensus on what the OBC list is for. Some people on
the list have expressed interest in what CfSC promotes and I'm sure others are
instrested in advocacy issues.
In the interests of democracy, it should be the members, not the board or it's
president that determines what this list is about and not about. And let me point
out, cycling includes advocacy of it.
If there is a consensus among OBC _members_ (and not only the board) that any
advocacy issues (I have previously mentioned Climate Change Caravan on this list)
does not have a place on OBC, then I suggest OBC redirects the interested people
to CfSC, Auto-Free Ottawa and other groups via the OBC web site.
I can understand the fustration about double cross-posting but one, it is a
cycling issue (so OBC wishes to be open to any cycling issue, why ban it), two,
some people have expressed interests in CfSC via the OBC list.
Being open to others means accepting these diffrent topics. Sure it puts cycling
in a larger scope, it's not limited to pedals, bolts and racing, but it's still
cycling. If OBC does'nt wishes to be open to advocacy (and therefore not include
the whole scope of cycling topics), then it should point it out on it's mandate.
