Thanks for all the suggestions about the braze-on.
I'll probably take it to Johnsons. I remember seeing their signage and
noting that they weld gas tanks. That seems dicier than a braze-on!
As for topic # 2 . . . My sister-in-law is looking for a bike.
She is tall (5'11") and long-legged, so a relatively large frame is required
(I'm a bit wobbly on bike sizing, so don't ask me for cm measures).
She has a bit of coin to spend, but really wants to get good value for money
(don't we all). She's been thinking of new, but good used bikes can be a
bargain in my experience.
I think what she would probably prefer a touring bike (since she expressed a
preference for drop handle bars), but she indicated that she wanted
something that could manage a fire-road or rail-trail, so a a hybrid might
be best. A criterium rig is right out of the question!
Any advice regarding makes, models, current sales around Ottawa, gently used
available or anything else you deem helpful will be greatefully received and
passed along.
