I suggest a cyclo cross bike. Most do not think of this type but it is perfect for
what you describe. Drop bars, fast enough on the road, thicker tires, cantilever
or v-brakes... I have taken my Marinoni cross bike through the Gatineau fire roads
many times without trouble. Cross bikes are easily the best all around bike.
