I also just finished my tenth in a row RLCT and agree with all that Perry McKenna has to say. "Very Well Done" I really liked the change in menu. It's was good and a surprise from the normal same menu every year.

My only sad note is that I left my watch in the men's washroom on Sunday at Carlton U. It is a Timex Sport watch with a black plastic strap and it has hands rather than being digital. Salt was in my eyes and I had my RLCT certificate with me, glasses, gloves and all the wash counters were very wet, so I left it on a small container mounted on the wall between the hand blowers along with the certificate and glasses. I picked up everything else but somehow missed the watch which is only a month old. this all happened around 4:30 to 5:00 PM. James would be very pleased to have his watch returned. Can be contacted at:              (613) 523-3012. Cheers, "Sir James"

I've just completed the RLCT for the10th time, and again I must simply say, bravo to the organizers on this fantastic event.

Every year I am amazed at how smooth the whole thing runs.  What makes it even more amazing is that it is run by volunteers, people who give up some of their time to make this event the success that it is.  I've heard that this was the second busiest year ever.  Over 1400 were registered!  The weather was near perfect, not too hot, light winds and beautiful sunshine.  A nice relief from last year!

And the beauty is, it keeps getting better!  Far from resting on their laurels, the RLCT committee is always looking for ways to improve the tour and keep it fresh.   The new Cruise route has been a welcome addition to those seeking a change of scenery.  I've just completed it for the first time, and it was a real treat with low traffic, fewer cyclists, less hills and beautiful scenery.  Through out the years there has also been many smaller improvements, like handing out the t-shirts in Kingston, small detail, but it has made checking in on Saturday morning smoother and faster.  Another improvement that I liked this year has been the elimination of the meal tickets, definitely less hassle.  The massage therapists are also a welcomed service, as witnessed by the long line-ups.

Again, a huge thank-you to all the volunteers, and congratulations to Ray Burham, Rick Potter, Rosmarie Gerber and all the members of the committee, on another wonderful Rideau Lakes.

See you next year,

Perry McKenna
