I encourage everyone reading this to attend the Smart Growth Summit
session of transportation tomorrow morning, Saturday June 16. You must
pre-register, which is free:

   <http://ottawa2020.com/en/aboutogs.cfm>

Unfortunately, none of the 3 introductory speakers in "Getting there -
Next Generation Transportation" are experts in local cycling issues,
although David Jeanes of Transport 2000 works frequently with CfSC on such
issues as light rail and bicycle integration. We will have to be there to
make our own points from the audience, fortunately most of the time is
allocated to audience participation, not speakers.

See yhou there!

-----------------------------------------------
Saturday, June 16 From: 9:30 a.m. To: 12:00 p.m.

Designing a transportation network is arguably the most vital component of
a 'smart growth' strategy. In Ottawa, traffic and gridlock are starting to
take a toll on our peace of mind, our quality of life and our environment.

What role has transportation played in our evolution? What role will it
play? We're just launching light rail and already we?re talking about the
need to do more. How do we make public transit even more appealing? What
about air links?

How pedestrian-friendly are we and has cycling earned its
bona fides - not just as leisure - but as a transportation option?

As we set a new course for transportation, this Town Hall will help plot
some directions.
