'Blasted', that's such a nice word. Actually there were 3 of us. Sorry
for getting a little enthusiastic. My excuse is a large dose of Tour de
France fever and the excitement of having a bike that doesn't clank on
every pedal stroke. Anyone who's ridden with me the last few weeks will
know what I'm talking about. My thanks to Sir James for recommending
Rebek and Kroes. They diagnosed my bottom bracket as being shot as soon
as they saw it and fixed me up quickly.

By my math 42 miles comes out to 68 km and I usually don't worry about
so small a difference (especially if I get a higher total). I got 80 km
exactly including the ride home, 12.5 km, giving 67.5 km to Billings.
But you're right, you're odo is set wrong, in ancient imperial units.

I didn't say, see, hear or touch any lightning on the way home.
