Regarding the helmet article in the times. It occurs to me that there has 
been a trend in cycling over the last ten years that may have affected head 
injury statistics more than helmets have. That is mountain biking. Surely 
falls are a part of mountain biking, as is risk taking. The idea that putting 
on a helmet turns a mild mannered cyclist into a daredevil probably has some 
merit but it must be less significant than the increased risk of taking a ski 
lift to the top of a mountain and riding your bike down.
