Sir James,
Well the 82 Olds Cutlass is fixed, turned out it was minor and what I first
thought it was.
The motor fan will free wheel when the motor is cold and is controlled by a
fan clutch.
This unit failed so that when you stepped on the gas you thought you were
driving a stock car. All the noise was caused by the fan blade
running at high speed when the motor was cold.
Problem was I had it replaced with a new rebuilt one and had the same
results, leaving me to believe I had another problem.
Turned out that the new one was also defective. Nice to have a son in law
working in a car parts store. We replaced it and bingo, the car is back to
it's normal 305 roar.
At least two OBC members made the Montreal Tour this Saturday. Margo Teskie
sent a e-mail on Friday saying sorry I showed interest so late and asked for
maps and instructions as they planned to do the tour anyway. Partner
dropped over and we went through the do and do note's and I supplied maps.
I hope it will be a great tour for them.
My wife June spent the day charging from one garage sale to another and was
quite happy to spend my hard earned money on things which our grown-up
children require.
I managed to add a few more vinyl records to my growing collection. I may
have over 1,500 that are all catalogued and filed away. plus another 200
which I have not played and if you are ever at my once a year garage sale I
will have over 1,000 records for sale at ten cents each, some very good but
I have already. I set a top price of 25 cents a record when buying. Many
want more $1,00 to as much as $25,00 a record. If I cannot get them for 25
cents or cheaper I just pass them up as I have found that I could get the
same record with the same quality at 25 cent or in some cases $2.00 or
$3.00 a case.
Hope to see you all at Stittsville as I plan to ride a nice easy tour to
Lanark.
Cheers, Sir James
