But just considering tires (and tubes), I think that car tires are cheaper
per km than bicycle tires. Here's my first run at it:
Car - $80 per tire x 4 / 80,000 km life = 0.4 c/km
Bike - $20 per tire + $5 per tube x 2 / 10,000 km life = 0.5 c/km
One of my first observations would be that a car tire is far more likely
to achieve its full life than a bicycle tire. And that's before we count
all the time wasted changing & repairing punctured bicycle tubes....
Is there anyone out there who has some valid average mileage stats for
bicycle tires?
