I have no idea what is specifically meant by the comment on group rides.
Better to ask Manny to clarify rather than speculate.

One of things that bothers me about this list is the automatic
assumption something is negative. This is a great club with wonderful
group rides. I don't know what others experiences are say with the
Ramblers group, touring 1 or the Tuesday night rides. It would be
somewhat disconcerting to be dropped from those groups. Hey someone
might end up being dropped because they are less experienced and are
riding in too hard a gear -- hence they get tire quickly.

Has anyone thought that improving group rides might just be a way of
making a great club even better.

My neighbour across the street often describes herself as touring 1.5.
Sometimes she finds Touring 2 great and at other times just a little
over her threshold. Touring 1 however, is less challenging.

I can tell you this about being dropped. Women are more likely (not
always) to engage in a sport for more social and less competitive
reasons therefore if a woman for whatever reasons gets dropped she is
unlikely to come back. Women are probably more easily intimidated, one
woman on this list mentioned that. Men on the other hand are less likely
to feel intimidated by being dropped and go out again for the challenge
of keeping with a group. These comments are generalizations of course
but they are based on studies of the differences between why men and
women engage in sports activities.

If we have women's time trials why not women rides? It may or may not be
a good idea. Who knows?

As far as that goes maybe a Family ride would be fun on occassion. We do
have a Family membership.
