Kevins letter does not make any mention of Manny Agulnik.

He mentions that several other people, "from other cycling groups", plan
to attend.

Implication of Agulnik's connection to these groups is yours, as there
are vague references, (if not direct if I recall correctly), to your
admirable Bicycle Advocacy activities in your letter in the
Spokesperson.

Kevin goes on to say complimentary things about Avery Burdett's term in
office. Everyone has an opinion, and I'm pleased he expressed it.

The question can reasonably be asked: Under Manny Agulnik's presidency,
will (& if so, how much of) the business of the OBC be redirected toward
the SAME goals of these bicycle/transportation lobby or advocacy groups?
Will the budget of the club thus be redirected away from present
programs? How much will that affect programs such as the Time Trials,
the Grand Prix, the RLCT, the weekend tours, The Sunday Tours, the
membership fees, Junior development?

I prefer the clear division of these organizations, truthfully, since I
tend to disagree strongly with many of the ideas of the advocacy groups,
and frankly, the behaviour of some of its principles. That's why I'm not
a member of their organization. That's why I don't directly contribute
to their affairs.

Equally, and without a doubt, that's probably why they aren't active an
participating members of the OBC. That's not to say there are SOME who
belong actively to both, and that's their right, too. Life is so easy.

Therefore, the presence of non-members, en-mass, if that occurs, at the
OBC AGM would be very curious to me. I would conclude that their
interest in the OBC's affairs, as Kevin mentioned in stronger terms, may
have a negative impact on the current programs supported. I think we
deserve a clear view of "how much", and how will those changes reflect
on the OBC in the community.

Smeulders out
