As an outsider to the politics of bike riding (didn`t know there was any
until recently) but a member of the OBC- touring, cyclocross etc I can
tell you that I do not want the OBC supporting other cycling groups.
Why? All of these groups are inexpensive to join (some I understand are
even funded by taxpayers much to my dismay) and those OBC members who
wish to support them can go ahead and do that directly.

I am involved with a local charity that raises thousands of dollars each
year. Typically we do not share funds with other charities even though
most of the time we agree with their goals. We spend "our" money
directly on people in need that meet our criteria. We figure if someone
wanted their donation to go to the United Way (I send them money too) or
any other worthwhile cause then our supporters would have made the
cheque payable to them. Same goes for the bike community.
