There is wonderful and inspiring article in the Spokesperson about Mary Ajersch.
As I read it I was reminded of something I had just recently read. In 1896, Susan B. Anthony wrote "Bicycling has done more to emancipate woman than any one thing in the world" Apparently in the 1890's More than a million American women would own and ride bicycles during this decade. It is the first time in American history than an athletic activity for women would become widely popular. So great was its influence that it actually changed the fashion industry. It was funny, I was kind of pondering the idea of an Ottawa Women's Cycling Network just to encourage women to embrace cycling in its many forms, to provide support and inspiration a place where there other women may feel less intimidated etc. But maybe an Ottawa Women's Sport Network would be a better idea. It would be an excellent forum for Mary's ambitions but these things would take some work to get off the ground. Cyclemom Good Luck and Congratulations. ----- Get your free WebMail account from Sympatico-Lycos at www.sympatico.ca ----- ------ To unsubscribe, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Club Office: [EMAIL PROTECTED], (613) 230-1064 Web/mailing list: [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.cyberus.ca/~obcweb Newsletter: [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.cyberus.ca/~obcweb/Newsletter ==^================================================================ This email was sent to: [email protected] EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?aVxiDo.a2i8p1 Or send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] T O P I C A -- Register now to manage your mail! http://www.topica.com/partner/tag02/register ==^================================================================
