It automatically gets pasted into each page. The SSIs make the website very very easy to maintain. I have my doubts the pages will take longer to load, but I have to admit I have no way of measuring this. The bottom line is there will be little perceptable difference to the average visitor.   The menus are omitted from the classy ads because it isn't wide enough. We're working on that.   Frames - I really don't see any advantage to using frames because of the SSIs - most websites don't use frames anymore. Govt of Canada sites are explicitly forbidden from using frames because they do not comply with their accessibility requirements.   The hit count and last modified date are recorded in the server logs. Most users have little use for this info, except perhaps power-users such as yourself.   If a page is so long that the menu buttons disappear, the page is probably too long and needs to be shortened or further broken down, although this may not be practical in all cases. The menu items are re-produced in the footer of each page if it is too much trouble to go back to the top of the page. I'll ask if we can throw in some "go to top" labels.   I forgot to mention to Menno that the links to the photo archives are dead right now because we have to update the links.
