I just read an article in La Presse about a new tour organized by the
folks at Le Tour de l'ile. Here are the details from their website.

Are you ready to take the Metropolitan Challenge?
Cycling in the city is fun, but going beyond the city limits can be fun,
too! And
that�s just what the new Metropolitan Challenge will allow you to do.
Expand your horizons by exploring
a 100- or 150-km route, where you are certain to see a succession of
green pastures and fields
vibrant with colour. Along the way, admire magnificent little towns like
Saint-Andr� and
Saint-Joseph-du-Lac. A route on rural roads, open to traffic, that will
allow you to rediscover, with
every turn of the wheel, the beauty of another world right next door.
Since this may well be your first major
outing of the cycling season, we
encourage you to set your own pace.
You have the same options as you do
on the Grand Tour: cycle as fast as you
can or adopt a more leisurely pace so
you can enjoy the beauty of the route.
But no matter what, have a great day of
cycling, in good company and in the
rural splendour of Greater Montr�al. The
2002 Fest will give cyclists a chance to
cycle beyond the city limits. Take
cycling fun on the road by participating
in this brand-new event!
