Here are two good examples of remote starts: 1) Snow Rd - north of Sharbot Lake. I had lived in Ottawa for about 25 years before I discovered this ride. Great rolling hills, almost no traffic.
2) The Petites Nations area northeast of Thurso. Chutes de Plaisance, Monpelier, Lac Simon,Ripon, St Andre d'Avelin. Gorgeous, especially in the fall.
