The point I was trying to make it that the paint would be more useful on my
house.

Yes, you can repaint, and then paint bigger and bigger directional arrows
and big x's everywhere else...BUT if the paint does not serve a for a more
positive road-user experience, I would rather see the money spent on
pamphlet vending stands at each end of the bridge (yes...with recycling bins
nearby...and yes when the toll booths are added...pamphlets for the
motorized vehicles too...)

Looking at the BIG picture, I contend that the paint has a negative impact
for riders in all other road situations...motorist get conditioned to not
learning how to pass safely.  I haven't ridden the Montreal bridge
referenced...but I would contend there that those that gut it out are doing
other cyclists a favour..  :)
