I am! And intend to all winter. In fact, I just picked up my winter bike last week. A Raleigh Sport ladies model, complete with matching fenders and chain guard, and rear rack. 3 speed internal rear hub, sky blue...can't wait to ride it in the snow! Built in 1974, maybe I'll take it on a vintage ride sometime! ;-)

In the meantime I still commute using my touring bike, everyone alwyas asks me if I'm cold, to tell the truth I have a hard time keeping cool. Layers and pit zips are great for that. Soon I will have to switch bikes, simply because the mesh in my cycling shoes cools me down the wrong way! That's the only thing I don't like about my clipless pedals...I can certainly live with that!

In wet weather I ride my MTB (until snow and salt come), have installed fenders. I also prefer fatter tires, and being more upright, in wet weather.

My commute is (only) 7 km from Westboro to downtown. I have ridden to work every day since moving there in July. Haven't taken the bus once! Prior to the move I lived in Centretown, so I rode to work mostly but walked in the really poor weather, only 1 km. I'm really looking forward to the winter commute on the bike. It's true, we have to be careful to 'lighten up' for our commute.

I'm glad to know so many are still riding, especially women! Keep it up. Citizens for Safe Cycling will be holding cold weather cycling semianrs for those who wish to extend their cycling commuting season. Details to be posted soon!
