Текст по-русски ниже. Nordic Art Today is a collaborative large-scale project between artists and curators from Nordic countries and Russia organized by the Сreative Аssociation of Сurators TOK in St. Petersburg, Russia in 2010-2011.
The project Nordic Art Today will open in St. Petersburg with a short series of public lectures by leading Nordic curators from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland, which will take place on June 2nd and 3rd at Loft Project ETAGI. These lectures on contemporary Nordic art will attract both art lovers and art professionals such as curators, artists, art historians, etc. Visitors to the lectures will receive a unique opportunity to find out more about the development of European curatorship, collaborations between artists and curators, and their reflection on transformations in modern society. The invited specialists will also talk about relevant issues in international curatorial discourse as well as artistic tendencies and cultural policy in Nordic countries. As prominent representatives of the contemporary European art scene, Kari Brandtzaeg, Birta Gudjonsdottir, Power Ekroth, Aura Seikkula and Simon Sheikh form the curatorial group of the project together with their Russian colleagues Anna Bitkina and Olesya Turkina. The mission of the project Nordic Art Today is to acquaint the public and the art community of St. Petersburg with a critical artistic approach to social tendencies and problems in modern European society by presenting them with the best examples of the most recent Nordic art. The project Nordic Art Today will explore artistic and curatorial reflections on the most challenging social issues today such as migration, nationalism, the search for identity, social inequality, global environmental changes, etc. that the world community, including Northern Europe and Russia, face in the beginning of the 21st century. Nordic Art Today will last for two years and will consist of two parts: the curatorial research, during which the lectures will be held, and an exhibition to be conducted in 2011. The list of artists participating in the exhibition will be finalized by Autumn 2011 and will be comprised of the 12-15 artists from Nordic countries and Russia whose works most poignantly and deeply reflect the social problems of modern society. Проект Nordic Art Today откроется в Петербурге серией лекций ведущих кураторов из Финляндии, Швеции, Норвегии, Дании и Исландии, которые пройдут 2 и 3 июня в Лофт Проекте ЭТАЖИ. Лекции, посвященные различным аспектам современного искусства Северных стран и Европы, будут интересны как любителям искусства, так и тем, кто связан с ним профессионально: кураторам, художникам, искусствоведам и другим специалистам из сферы искусства и культуры. В течение двух вечеров у посетителей лекций проекта Nordic Art Today будет уникальная возможность узнать о том, как развивается сегодня институт кураторства, как европейские кураторы взаимодействуют с художниками и как они реагируют на изменения в современном обществе. Приглашенные специалисты расскажут об актуальных вопросах международного кураторского дискурса, а также о художественных тенденциях и культурной политике своих стран. Кари Брандцег, Бирта Гудьонсдоттир, Пауэр Экрот, Aура Сейккула и Саймон Шейх - яркие представители современной европейской арт-сцены, которые совместно со своими российскими коллегами Анной Биткиной и Олесей Туркиной образуют кураторскую группу проекта. Основная цель Nordic Art Today - познакомить зрителей и арт-сообщество Петербурга с наиболее актуальными примерами современного искусства Северных стран, использующих критический подход для освещения социальных проблем. Речь идет о таких значимых вопросах, как миграция, национализм, поиски идентичности, растущее социальное неравенство, глобальные экологические изменения и другие проблемы, с которыми каждый из нас сталкивается в начале 21 века. Nordic Art Today рассчитан на два года (2010-2011) и состоит из двух основных этапов: кураторского исследования, в рамках которого пройдут презентации, и выставки, запланированной на 2011. Окончательный состав участников выставки будет определен к осени 2010 года - ими станут 12-15 художников из Северных стран и России, чьи работы наиболее глубоко и остро отражают социальные проблемы современного общества.
