Nickel for delivery in three months on the London Metal Exchange slipped $500, or 1.3 percent, to $39,350 a metric ton as of 10:32 a.m. local time. Earlier, it rose $400, or 1 percent, to $40,250, beating the previous record of $39,999 set yesterday.
