Yup. Agreed. I would also like to allow people to have public and
private playlists. This would also allow only owners of
playlists/channels to change them; and others could not see your private
playlists.

There are many things that would be made possible by such a system.

Mike Quintero has submitted a patch that does some very simple
authentication. I haven't applied that patch yet, because it doesn't
take things far enough yet -- it mainly only keeps track of who
added/advanced which track. 

Obviously we want to go a lot further with this -- so I will actually
wait with applying that patch/implementing these features until I have
enough time to do it right. Mike, have your worked on that stuff any
more since you sent that patch?

While we're talking about new features, I was thinking of allowing users
to create channels dynamically. The user could specify a name and a
description, and obs could create that channel. When the channel runs
out of things to play, the channel could simply get erased from the
system. Then, only permanent channels (like the ones we have now) would
play DJ random... What do you guys think about that?
