Unknown means the device hasn't been polled yet since the alert check
was updated, which might mean it's offline/unreachable, which might
mean your original alert was fine. I'm guessing there is an ACL or
other issue preventing your Observium server from getting ICMP and/or
SNMP to these devices.
Try to ping one from the observium server, and do a manual discovery
on one to see if it can be reached, I'd bet they can't.

It's most likely that your alert conditions are broken
and are just always returning failed.
