I support the warning being put up a the ATM and want to suggest you go ahead asap, unless a lobby of people on this site object before then. Also does anyone have a Standard bank tel number where many of us can lodge a complaint? We would not like to loose the ATM, but this one and the one at St Peters puts us in danger. I think that this is a very good idea, and warning to make people MORE aware, also I would think the notice should be put above each of the two machines, so that it catches the eye of the people using the machine. Maybe if Standard Bank get so incensed by these warning signs they will at long last come to the party and do something about securing these machines. I have noted in other areas that you need to swipe your card to gain entrance to the enclosed secure area where the machines are housed. This needs to be done in this area as well. The ONW committee has drafted a notice which we would like to display on the wall next to the ATM. We submitted this to Standard Bank, who were most unhappy, because they said it may be bad for their image! And they asked where exactly we planned to put it. ONW feels that the safety of ATM users and the security of their money is more important than the 'image' of Standard Bank. Perhaps regular clients of Standard Bank and users of this ATM might like to take this up with the bank themselves? You are the ones who are at risk. This is the message we were proposing to put up: WARNING* *THIS ATM IS OFTEN TARGETED BY CRIMINALS.* *Do NOT accept help from anyone.* *Check to see whether you are being watched.* *If you feel uneasy or unsafe, cancel the transaction, take your card,* *and leave.* *NEVER hand your card to anyone else.* *NEVER EVER let anyone know your pin number* * * *If any incident takes place, please REPORT IT TO THE POLICE: 082 302 5525.* *The notice is put up by the *Observatory Neighbourhood Watch.* Rob Disclaimer http://www.shopriteholdings.co.za/pages/1019812640/disclaimer/E-mail-Disclaimer.asp --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Observatory Neighbourhood watch" group.
