I visited the Woodstock Police Station a little after the perp was booked in. A statement was taken and Inspector Farmer called the fingerprint guy who came arround to do the prints.
The serivce was fine if a bit slow -+1 but they did get the FP guy there so that I would not be inconvenienced by those details later. +1 I intend to see this case followed up to the full so my time sacrifice I can handle. SAPS +2 I then told the recruit taking my statement that I had to complete the case for malicious damage to property and now my car was hear for inspection. She bassically told me I could not have 2 cases at the same time -1 I walked into the Crime Office once more to finalise details of the theft case and before I coulds mention it one of the offices asked me about the malicious damage to property case as she recognized me (I guess I might me more recognizable than many others) +1 Things were looking up. Then she cam with me to inspect the damage to the car and I thought we would complete the case. After the finger printing the I had to go back and give the Reg of my car as I do not know it by heart and I then mentioned the malicious damage to property case. She showed me the case docket and said that since nothing was mentioned I shoudl just use this case number and tell my insurance company the damage happened during this incident. This despite in the docket it clearly mentioning DOOR OPEN - so there would be no need to break open the other door. She told me I had to be clever with the insurance companies. SAPS officer suggesting I should commit insurance fraud cause they could not be bothered to open another case -10 (and I think I am scoring lightly here) SAPS -7 Of course I will now have to waste another few hours by going back there again to sort this out. Mayeb SAPS can claw back some points! Trev OK I can give them back some now - after I called the sector car after using a radio to contact David to get the number! they arrived within in minutes. +2 I had called the 10111 number just before and someone said they had called ADT (or so I thought) +2 SAPS -5 And this is the great pity - the nonsense from some undermining all the good that is being done. It would be great if we could get some sort of scorecard going that could be a bit more objectively applied an collated - then we could help the police to improve their image and performance.
