Having caught a few "African" (not South African) perps in the act
recently and paid a few visits to the Woodstock Drop Off; I find
myself wondering what is the correlation between the Petty Crime in
our Area and the Camp.

For anyone who hasn't been to the Woodstock Drop Off on Beach Road
recently - Please Don't!! It can be a traumatising experience,
depending on your disposition. Rather use the Solid Waste Drop Off
Facility at the Pinelands Power Station. Unlike the Woodstock
Facility, it is clean, secure and well managed.

The adjacent "temporary camp" erected there to accommodate displaced
Immigrants during the Xenophobic Attacks has mushroomed beyond belief.
Those poor individuals are living there in appalling conditions, the
scene is reminiscent of poverty and degradation that I've only
witnessed in Zimbabwe.

Taking solid refuse there is an experience I don't recommend, my
vehicle was mobbed by a frenzied crowd, desperate to find something of
worth amongst my building rubble. Despite half a dozen Security Guards
being employed the mob factor was the deciding factor during my last
four visits to the facility.

My assistant ( a legal immigrant from Moz) engaged with them and
reported that most appeared to be from Central Africa. They are hungry
and feel forgotten.

Hence me questioning the correlation.

Does anybody know what the Local Council's plan of attack is for this
camp?
