Dear Trevor,
I think you missed my point. I know that "Charra" was shot by an ADT
armed response officer who responded to a burglary. I read the report
before I posted the link. Although the deceased Rashaad "Charra"
Abrahams was never found guilty on any criminal charges and had no
criminal record, the report in the media states that he "was also
reported to be linked to perlemoen smuggling, fraud and house breaking
incidents around the city". Abrahams was also arrested for the 1998
murder of a suspected police informant (one of his three co-accused
was Chinese) and both he and his bodyguard were acquitted. "Charra"
was in Pollsmoor at the time on house breaking charges and was alleged
to have organised the hit from prison. He was also detained at CT Int
Airport in possession of a large sum of money (FOREX violations) and
so on. In another search, Kader Kahn, the marketing manager of club
@mospheer recalls how the deceased used to sell stolen 8 track tapes
outside Club Galaxy in Athlone. So, although never found guilty of any
charges against him, he certainly had a chequered career.
The "fishy" circumstances surrounding his direct involvement in a
burglary, in which he was shot and killed by an ADT officer, remain
unclear.
However, being at the scene of a burglary, wearing a balaclava and and
attacking the security officer in an attempt to escape, seem to
indicate that he was up to no good. It would be very interesting to
know more about the occupant of the house he attempted to burgle.
I seem to recall a quote from another night-club owner who said that:
"the shooting (of Ricky Oaker) is very bad for business".
What kind of business? Perlemoen smuggling, fraud, house breaking and
drug dealing? Oh, and murder?
Indeed, very bad for that kind of business.
Brian.
