There is building going on at 17 Irwell Street. Not only building, but criminal activity in my view. The tree planted outside on the pavement has been summarily lopped off at ankle height, leaving an unsightly stump with no greenery. This tree belongs to the City; and thus to us all. This cannot be seen as an attempt at pruning. It is instead a vicious assualt, and one that may result in death. Trees add character and life to a suburb, and are of vital importance. This kind of activity needs to be censured, and the perpetrators brought to book. Whilst I am on this subject of 17 Irwell Street, I wonder if the building activity, which includes the knocking down of the front wall, has been subject to any sort of planning approval. Looking at the flagrant disregard for the tree's existence and its visual and sensory impact on all residents and visitors to the street, I somehow doubt it. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~
