Found a days old kitten at my restaurant outside all by itself. Apparently it has been heard for two days or so and today it had crawled out of the bush on to the path.
So I am guessing mom is around somewhere as I doubt the thing could have survive this long in its own. I have put it on a box at the spot I found it and am hoping for mom to come and do the honors. However if I cannot be sure there is a mother I cannot in good conscience leave the kitten out there to natures cruel devices. So the question is - does anyone have or know of anyone who has a cat that is still suckling kittens and that would be prepared to offer their cat to be a surrogate? If someone can offer this service I will undertake to rehome the kitten or adopt it myself if it makes it - this putting no burden on the owner to find a home for YADK (yet another damn kitten!) Advice - suggestions? The crime in this for those who may be pondering - that someone has probably turfed out their pregnant cat to fend for itself. I have 2 cats at home (mom and daughter) that are the result of similar criminal behavior. Failing any help or the mothers return I shall have to take the kitten to the vet to be killed humanely. Thanks for your time for taking the trouble to read this and hopefully being able to help. I will even arrange transport for the kitten to its new temporary home should this become necessary.
