What percentage of ONW 2-way radio holders have contributed to the licence fee?
As a pensioner and active patroller I have paid my R50 but it was a tough call for me..... I also spend quite a bit on petrol doing patrols....... A suggestion..... I wonder whether if the ONW continues taking licence fee money from pensioners, whether they (the pensioners) might not be asked to contribute what they can afford.......rather than hold them to R50. Also, perhaps pensioners who patrol actively might even have the call for R50 waived in lieu of money spent on petrol for patrols ? *Alternatively......* Perhaps radio holders could contribute towards the licence fee on a monthly basis to lessen the blow at crunch-time ? I also think that when people are called on to purchase a radio they should at the same time be told of the annual licence fee cost. These days I don't go and buy a bag of tomatoes......I get one or two at a time in the hope that the money I have will stretch to the end of a month.........which it seldom does.
