We gave OAR one month's notice at the beginning of February at our
student house in Howe street.
We activated the alarm on several occasions and they didnt respond. The
last straw was when they debited my bank account (via the outfit who run
their debit orders) directly for the annual radio rental fee. i was
outraged. How can they debit my account for anything other than the
debit order i signed for their Armed Response service. My bank (FNB)
confirmed that they can! i immediately cancelled : delivered my
cancellation in person to their office and had them sign an
acknowledgement of receipt. i also cancelled the debit order at the bank.
Will be inspecting my bank account transactions very closely during
March and during subsequent months,

I'm writing now because I've encountered your complaints about OAR on
the ONW Google site. I too have become a victim of their debit-order
fraud, and am now wanting to take this matter further. I've been in
touch with Justin Ashley, am trying to lay a charge at Woodstock, and
have also drafted a letter to the press, publicizing the dangers of
OAR. But such a letter would presumably have more impact if it came
from a larger group of people.
On the ONW site, I've encountered the names of two other potentially
useful contacts: Evelyn Terblanche and Daniel Norlindh, both of whom
complain about OAR's debit-order fraud. I have contacted them - but
also wondered if you knew of anyone else with similar complaints? Or
anyone else I should contact about, say, OAR's apparent illegal status?
You yourself seem to know a fair amount about OAR's dubious
activities. Would it be possible for me to send you my draft for any
comments? Perhaps, after appropriate changes, you'd be willing to
associate yourself with such a letter?
