Hi I am all for tighter controls on the sale of alcohol and a more civilized community but I can't help but notice that many of Teun's bullet points, while _possibly_ true, are completely unprovable or have yet to be proven.
This sort of hyperbolic discourse ( specifically "or go home and beat up their wives." ) does not do any of us any favours. People in positions of power (Hellen Zille etc) have very good BS filters and there are plenty of nut jobs out there complaining about the neighbour that wants to kill them, or the cell phone radiation that is making their water turn blue. We don't want to be ignored like they are. The link between spousal abuse and alcoholism is very real... but that has nothing to do with night clubs and everything to do with society and our very odd decision that alcohol is the one drug we're all okay with. Keep the discourse factual and cite evidence. We have plenty of legs to stand on, there is no need to make up new ones. Regards J. ps. I drink alcohol but I still think it is weird that it is legal.
