Sorry....
I had meant to do this a lot earlier but only got to the SPCA this
morning.....

I queried the outcome of the report on the 'abused' Jack Russell with
the SPCA Inspector who responded (along with the SAPS) to the
complaint.

The SPCA Inspector (Gareth) who spoke to the owner of the dog said
that he looked for signs of abuse in terms of the dog's responses to
him (Gareth) as well as any physical signs on the dog's body. On both
counts he found no evidence of abuse.
At some point he also purposefully handed the dog back to the man
alleged to have been abusing him to check the dog's response to its
owner. The dog showed no fear on being handed over, appearing relaxed
and happy when held by him.

The SPCA Inspector called for a veterinary report on the dog's
condition.
This report showed no evidence of an abused dog.

The owner of the dog has been informed that the SPCA will do periodic
checks on the dog and is okay with this.
The owner of the dog was using a hockey stick (and not a golf
club)........just to amend this detail.

The inspector said : "There 'appears' to have been some
misunderstanding in relation to the treatment of the dog but we will
watch the situation........although we are not unduly concerned...."
Or words to that effect.
He also said that when Jack Russells "rush around" at play they can
make "a heck of a lot of noise....."

Thank you Guy for your concern and for getting involved.
Thanks too to the SPCA and SAPS who investigated.

Personally, I have let go and am no longer worried about the
situation.....
I'm hugely relieved about the dog.
