A Candlelight Vigil, held in solidarity against crime, was initiated by the BKM Neighbourhood Watch in 2010, and commemorated by other neighbourhood watches all over Cape Town. The Observatory Neighbourhood Watch (ONW) supports this initiative. Our vigil this year will be held on Wednesday 13 April 2011 from 6.30 until 7.00 pm on the Observatory Village Green in Station Road. Last year we had approximately 250 people who stood together to demonstrate their concern at unacceptable levels of crime. Speakers and guests this year include MEC Patricia de Lille, Tim Harris MP, Cllr Brett Heron and Colonel Duma Ntsezo (SAPS), as well as speakers from civic organisations in Observatory. Speeches will be limited to two minutes each, and there will also be a short musical performance. Residents and visitors are urged to attend and show their support. (Bring a candle or, if windy, a lantern or torch). *TOGETHER WE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!* -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Observatory Neighbourhood watch" group.
