I would like to congratulate James and his team on all the work they put into organising the vigil last night. The elements were against us (it was difficult to keep a candle alight, and the wind may have kept some people away) but the spirits were high. I was particularly impressed by the array of speakers, who included the Headmistress of Obs Junior, as well as a UCT student and a visiting overseas student (from Austria) who all spoke movingly of their experience of crime or of being in South Africa. Hopefully the vigil will provide encouragement fot more residents to become active members of ONW, and the local police Subforum. And I discovered that Tauriq could sing!
