I'm the neighbout that Louise contacted with regard to the pretext. The story was that he was housesitting for me, and needed to cut down some branches overgrowing the telephone cable between the two properties (and needed an extension lead with which to do so). The scary thing is that he knows that there's a phone cable between the two properties and also which houses back each other - and you can't see either of these aspects from the street!
