Dear Residents of Observatory, We are sending you this ATTACHED letter for your *URGENT* attention. It describes the issues that we, the affected residents in Sussex Rd, Park Villa, Wrensch and parts of Nuttall are concerned about and are objecting strongly to.
If you live close by you should know about it and have probably already received the notice from the city. Please act on it before it is too late If you are in another area of Observatory, this is also *an issue that has broader impact,* in that *it is actually a threat to the whole Urban Conservation Area of Observatory!* ** If rezoning is permitted while disregarding the objections of immediate affected neighbours then the confidence in the conservation policy for Observatory as a whole is affected. It could set an unfortunate precedent for our area and we need to prevent this with strong determination ... NOW while we still can! We need you, your friends, neighbours and community organisations, *to read the attached letter and put it in your own words* *so your own concerns are expressed to the City Planning Authorities*. If we make it clear that we are not going to allow our protected residential area in Observatory to be disregarded and downgraded by alowing illegal factories and inappropriate creep of commercial activities to be made legal through silent rezoning and consolidation of sites on the perifery and into the heart of our historic residential neighbourhood presincts. * Please show your SOLIDARITY by Adapting the attached letter in your own words, shorten it or improve it where you can. * * State your name and address, erf number if you know it and other contact information you may have. * * * Send it as an email to [email protected] or by fax (or drop off a signed hard copy in an envelope at Vicki, 22 Susex Rd Observatory so it can be taken in to the Planning department before Friday 10 June).
