Media Statement by the Station Commissioner , Woodstock, Area West Metropole, Western Cape , Sergeant Hilton Malila . 31 YEAR OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR DEALING IN DRUGS : This morning ( Friday 2011-06-10 ) at approximately 08:30 , the Woodstock Police arrested a 31 year old man for dealing in drugs in Wright street Woodstock. The arrest follows after police followed up on information received from the community about alleged drug trafficking activities in Wright street. Upon police arrival they noticed a suspicious looking man , trying to flee. The Woodstock police takkie team, reacted swiftly ,and apprehended the man. During a searching of the man , they confiscated 12 packets of tik in his possession, and seized R670-00 in cash . The street value of the confiscation is +-R850-00. The arrest is part of an ongoing operation in Wright street, because we want to eradicate drug paddling in the area. Focus operations will be done on a regular basis. The community must continue supplying police with information, and we will act. The suspect currently in police custody are facing charges of Dealing and possession of drugs, and will appear in the Cape Town magistrates’ on Monday( 2011-06-13).
