My car battery was stolen some time over the weekend, from Gordon Road. Can I ask, in relation to this:
* Why do Vetus Schola rarely patrol outside of the main part of Lower Main road? I understand they do have a route to follow, but I've never seen them in Gordon Road. Is the route the same, or does it change regularly (eg daily)? If not then it wouldn't be difficult to figure out. The amount of smashed windows we regularly have in our street alone suggests that the current patrolling is not having much effect. * Have the police made any progress in tracking down the battery thieves? Since this has been going on in Observatory for a number of years, I find it hard to believe that SAPS do not know the people involved either in the theft, or resale of the batteries. The last time this happened to me the police got a very good set of fingerprints from the car. Has anyone been arrested for battery theft at all? Perhaps their fingerprints matched up? I fully understand why most people don't bother reporting crime like this - nothing comes of it. Since the police don't even have the decency to release the statistics of crime that is going on, the point of filling out a form to be filed and ignored seems ever more pointless.
