Dear Mika

Thanks for your enquiries and sorry for the late reply.

Woodstock CPF is pleased with the crime figures of the Woodstock precinct,
which generally look positive.

We attribute the decrease of the crime statistics in general to good
policing by Woodstock SAPS: they are more visible in the area, they are
responding well to crime trends by allocating resources to areas where
crimes occur and at the times when they occur.

We also notice a marked increase in co-operation and involvement by the
residents and community. Community members are more easily coming forward
with information and are more willing to assist the police. Here the CPF and
the various sub-structures and member organisations are playing a vital role
in getting the residents more involved.

There is obviously still a lot of room for improvement. The property related
crimes (theft out of motor vehicles, burglaries) remain a concern. Also we
think that the community can do much more in contributing towards a downward
trend in drug-related crimes.

The CPF continues to monitor the performance of the police and continues to
call on the community to work together with the police.

Kind regards
Teun Baartman
