Subject: SAPS Woodstock Victim Support
To: [email protected], [email protected]

As a note of information and as discussed with the Woodstock Police 2i/c,
Lieutenant Colonel Redelinghuys:
When a victim of crime is visited by SAPS at the scene, or place of meeting
with SAPS, the SAPS member/s should as part of their procedures, and form
filling in sequence, offer the victim counselling support.
This counselling will be undertaken at the Woodstock Police Station at a
facility well provided for and neat, both for minors and adults.
Incidentally, the facilities are much to thanks for kind benefactors and
willing hands from the local four communities inclusive of Observatory.
The victims are generally to make their own way to the Police centre for
this support.
This counselling session is apparently basic in that the victim is able to
relate to the incident, statements could be taken or more detail could be
noted down, support is offered to phone immediate relatives or friend for
assistance, assistance is given to close banks accounts re stolen cards etc,
ertc.
I suspect more professional counselling services may be provided for by SAPS
in severe cases, but Sergeant Hilton Malila is best to be approached for
finer detail.
*He can be contacted at: 021 442 3100 or 082 499 3871.*
Should this service not have been offered by the SAPS members attending to
the incident, a complaint may be raised by the affected person/s, for
further investigations to be undertaken by the local SAPS department etc.
I stand to be corrected should my information not be exact, but not held
accountable for an error in the above.
