In the interest of the Observatory community who are served by our local Woodstock Police Services, I forward the writing below, so that one can get a better understanding in the event should there not be enough Police vehicles or personnel available in our Police Precinct in order to deal with the crime in Observatory and the surrounds.
James As a former Community Police Forum chairperson I can completely understand and share the frustration and anger of the members of parliament regarding the irresponsible spending of public money by the top brass of the SAPS. We read that vast amounts of monies are spend on useless efforts, which do not contribute anything to the fight against crime. Meanwhile police officers on the ground have to work from dilapidated police buildings and with equipment that is aging rapidly. Police vehicles are of inferior quality and no money is made available for repairs. Police members are transferred from our police stations, but never replaced. The police service is seriously understaffed. And in this age of modern (and increasingly affordable) communication, most police work still has to be done with pen and paper. These are the frustrations that we as Community Police Forum members have to deal with on a daily basis and when we challenge police officials on provincial and national level on this we get send from pillar to post without getting answers, just like the parliamentarians. After having a corrupt criminal as top cop, we now have the loud-mouthed populist general with no administrative skills whatsoever, who surrounds himself with kow-towing and cowering yes-sayers. It is time for Bheki Cele to go and be replaced with a proper administrator, who will pull SAPS straight and spend our money where it is really needed. -- Teun Baartman Woodstock 083 298 1009 021 448 3584 Please consider the environment before you print this e-mail!! *James Cowley* *082 926 1220* *021 448 2824 (t&f)* Observatory Neighborhood Watch: Chairman -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Observatory Neighbourhood watch" group.
