The fact that it was not sent by the SAPS Colonel, who has denied authorship, should be strongly suggestive that this is a hoax - no matter how shrewd criminals may often be (and that's not to even mention that they added the known key-tracker hoax). Then one needs to weigh up the benefits of being cautious against real threats vs. the harm of scaring people with false ones and - in this case - encouraging people not to help children in distress. There is no benefit to publicising false threats.
