A friend of ours was held up a gunpoint in Scott Road just before 1 a.m. this morning (Saturday) and forced to hand over his wallet and cellphone. He had just parked his car outside our house when a white car approached, driving the wrong way down Scott Rd, with only one headlight. The occupants were 4 or 5 'coloured' men. One man got out, pointed a gun, and chased our friend, who fled up Scott Rd. The car then drove after our friend, caught up with him, and an occupant of the car pointed another firearm at our friend. At this point be (wisely) surrendered his wallet and cellphone. The car drove off along Main Rd in the direction of the N2. VS and SAPS were called, and SAPS took statements and opened a case of armed robbery. The car had no rear number plate . The incident highlights the need to exercise extreme caution in our streets at night. Thanks to James for his rapid response on the ONW radio.
