THe book is called "Observatory: A Town in the Suburbs - A HIstory of Observatory 1881-1913."
The author, John Reid, is a former resident and the book is a version of his Histiry MA from UCT. I'm sure its in the Obs library. Obs books should be asked to keep some in stock!
